Impression from SketchUp (SU) to Twinmotion (T M) As I wrote in the intro ( page 3) first I designed the house with the program SketchUp. But to look it realistic you have to render it. SketchUp is a very popular program for architects and so all kind of render programs are able to use SketchUp for rendering. But they are mostly pricey. Not for 5D , a Japanese program and Twinmotion. They are both free. Twinmotion operates under Unreal Engine. Unreal Engine is developed as a game program. It can do a lot but you have to know a lot about programming. The first time I worked a time ago with Twinmotion it had big parts of Unreal Engine and not so friendly. But today you can directly design in SketchUp and via a help program ( Datasmith ) see in Twinmotion in seconds the results. Also you can create a lot in Twinmotion. Like trees, pavements, moving people and cars, etcetera. And that is important because to upload SketchUp to Twinmotion takes a lot of time. And trees and bushes are eating a lot of data other than a wall or a door for example. I copied my SketchUp design and left most of the trees and bushes. Also everything what you not see for instance foundation and parts under the floor I deleted it in the copy. After uploading I created in Twinmotion trees, bushes, pavements and roads, my creation came alive. Also I can create moving things like wind, water, people, animals or raining or creating all kinds of weather and sun. Also it is easy is to create a movie. I created it two times and inspected the results. I searched music for underneath. My third try I first created a story board. The music is 4 minutes long. The first part of the movie is outside and the second part is inside. I have still to decorate the inside and than film it. The beauty is also that when you have finished your movie and you change something in your design you don’t have to film it again. The film changes automatically. I can change material in SketchUp but also in Twinmotion. Fore that there are different sites like sketchuptextureclub or poliigon.
